Alternative Family Living

The Alternative Family Living program is a residential service, which provides family-style supervision and monitoring of daily activities. Individuals live with a family that acts as a provider of supported services. Alternative family living provides a natural, home environment for adults with disabilities who are unable to live on their own, allowing families who have room in their homes and their lives to provide a real home for an individual. It provides a family setting for adults with disabilities living in the community. The AFL provider is a person or agency capable of providing a supportive, culturally normative, programmatically sound service

that meets the physical, emotional, and developmental needs of those served.
